StarChapter Administration Area
StarChapter is an online association management software. I'm responsible for the user interface design and HTML/CSS/JavaScript implementation of the administration area used by all StarChapter customers.
This is a large part of my job at StarChapter. I work closely with the lead developer, vice president and president to develop the user interface that makes StarChapter an effective tool for association management. This is an ever-evolving project (as most UI's are) and we are continually improving current features and adding new ones. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of developing a user interface that's easy-to-use, nice to look at and effective at doing its job.
StarChapter Front End Designs
In addition to the admin area, I am also responsible for designing and implementing the front end websites for StarChapter customers.
When someone signs up for the StarChapter service, they choose a template to be customized to match their specific branding guidelines. I designed all of the current templates and am responsible for customizing the templates for each customer. Once a template has been approved, I implement the design into their StarChapter installation. I coded all the new templates to be responsive so the website looks good no matter what device you're viewing it on. There are currently over 400 customers using StarChapter and these are a few of my favorites.
Tristyn Albright
Tristyn is an incredibly talented artist located in York, PA. I created a portfolio website for her that also incorporates a blog.
This is actually the second iteration of Tristyn's website. She came to me last year looking for an update to her current website, which I had done many years ago. She had a lot of ideas about what she wanted and I was able to make those ideas a reality. I created a custom WordPress template for her blog, while the rest of her site is just plain 'ol HTML/CSS/JS.
Wee Westchester
Wee Westchester is a blog focused on finding kid-friendly activities and events in the Westchester, NY area.
The ladies at wee westchester approached me to create a blog that was fun, a little bit sophisticated and kid-friendly. They wanted to incorporate a daily calendar, be mobile ready and have a place for future advertisers. I integrated the Helios calendar product with a custom Wordpress template. I also used responsive design techniques to ensure the website would adapt to desktops, mobiles and everything in-between. They have attracted many advertisers since their initial launch as well as added a few more writers!
Squeaky Clean Green
Squeaky Clean Green is an eco-friendly cleaning service located in York, PA. Jen, the owner, wanted to convey that her services were environmentally friendly and affordable.
The color palette was based on the logo, which her husband (who is a graphic designer) designed. I decided to implement a single page website, using jQuery UI tabs to delineate between the different sections of the site. It was also important that customers could quickly and easily request a quote. I added a Request a Quote button that pulls up a modal form with all the information that Jen needs to provide an accurate quote to her potential customers.
Chandlee Projects Holiday Store
Chandlee Projects is near and dear to my heart, as this is my husband's business. We decided to host a holiday open house in 2011 to showcase his custom furniture projects.
I put together a single page website to provide the pertinent details: who, what, when and where. We included 2 other local artisans in the open house and I wanted to give a sneak-peek of their work on the website. In addition to the site, I also created invitations to match.
Megan Nechanicky
Megan is a health and nutrition specialist and needed a website where she could present her services and communicate her expertise through a blog.
Megan was my VERY FIRST client when I started my career as a web designer. Her current site is an update from that first foray into web design and is built using WordPress. It was important that it be easy-to-use which prompted my decision to use WordPress. In addition to the blog, she wanted to include information about her services as well as her Twitter and Pinterest feeds.
